Christine Chávez, granddaughter of Latino American civil rights activist César Chávez, for Cesar Chavez Day & Women’s History Month

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Texas Christian University invites you to help us conclude Women’s History Month and to celebrate César Chávez Day by hearing from Christine Chávez on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Christine works for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. She works on the Public Affairs team as an Outreach Coordinator. In her role, she is responsible for reaching out to underserved farmers, including, Hmong, Latino, African American, Veteran’s, LGBTQ, and women. Christine Chávez has made a lifetime commitment to civil rights, the labor movement, and community organizing. She was born in the City of Delano, in the heart of California’s Central Valley, where she was surrounded by the farm worker movement, which was led by her grandfather, Latino American civil rights activist; César Chávez.

Christine will be discussing the importance of women in action as it relates to impactful activism and effective advocacy – past and present.
