TCU 10th Global Innovator Award Banquet
Banquet celebrating Global Innovator awardee, Godelieve Mukasarasi, director of SEVOTA – a collection of community centers in 11 provinces in Rwanda.
As the founder and leader of the SEVOTA organization, Mrs. Mukasarasi has been successfully mobilizing rural Rwandan communities toward a culture of peace and non-violence in the post-genocide era since 1994. Educated as a social worker and psychologist, her work has been primarily focused on women who were survivors of sexual assault and children born of rape. Over the years, SEVOTA has developed as a community resource through its programming: education, agri-business, banking, craftsmaking, family support, as well as medical access and counseling. SEVOTA centers are gathering places for entire communities – both survivors and perpetrators – as all now come together to participate in healing at grassroots level.
