Native American and Indigenous Peoples Day Symposium
TCU’s third annual Native American and Indigenous Peoples Day symposium will take place on Monday, OCTOBER 1, 2018. This year’s theme is A Celebration of Contemporary Native American Peoples and Cultures and will feature a variety of activities, including multiple sessions with two significant individuals, Professor Luci Tapahonso and Supaman.
Professor Luci Tapahonso, the Navajo (Diné) Nation’s inaugural poet laureate and Professor Emerita in the department of English Language and Literature at the University of New Mexico, will be here as the second Don Coerver Lecturer in Liberal Arts, sponsored by TCU’s Master of Liberal Arts program.
Supaman is a highly acclaimed Crow (Apsáalooke) Hip-Hop artist, most recently receiving the 2018 Indigenous Music Awards for Best Rap/Hip Hop Album and Best Producer/Engineer. His visit is sponsored by Discovering Global Citizenship.
