HaMapah/The Map: A Multimedia Genealogical Dance Journey

Wednesday Oct 17 - Oct 18 | 7:30 pm - 9:15 pm

HaMapah/The Map is a multi-media, genealogical dance journey that traces the intersectional histories of DNAWORKS Co-Director, dancer, and TCU Assistant Professor of Dance Adam
McKinney’s African, Jewish and Native American heritages. The piece, which weaves contemporary dance with archival footage, personal interviews, and American and Yiddish songs, explores connections to identity, culture, heritage, and community.

The performance is followed by a community dialogue during which DNAWORKS Co-Directors McKinney and Daniel Banks, Ph.D, director of the production, invite audience members to share their family stories and connections to themes of the piece.
