Green Chair Speaker Series: Fashion In the Museum

Join Valerie Steele, Ph.D., chief curator and director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology for a discussion about:

– The international history of fashion exhibitions, from the Palace of Costume at the 1900 International Exhibition to a wide array of contemporary fashion exhibitions.
– The variety of types of fashion exhibitions — from old-fashioned chronological displays of elite women’s dress to blockbuster shows devoted to famous designers
– Exhibitions devoted to a particular type of clothing (such as shoes) and more conceptual thematic exhibitions.
