Deeds Not Words at TCU Meeting

Thursday Feb 13 | 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

We are a cross-movement organizing community that stands for women’s social and economic opportunity, access to reproductive health, freedom from sexual assault, and equal representation in every space and at every level. Founded by Wendy Davis and led by YOUth, we’re uniting young people to push progress forward — not through talk — Through DEEDS.

We are having our first meeting next Wednesday, February 12, at 5:30pm in Reed 202. The meeting will get you acquainted with the organization’s values and learn about upcoming events in the semester. There will be FOOD and refreshments served, and those who attend the whole meeting will be entered into a raffle for prizes. You don’t want to miss out!

Please feel free to contact me at n.g.tran@tcu.edu if you have any questions.

About TCU Student Activities

Deeds Not Words at TCU Meeting
Student Activities at TCU is obsessed with creating an unforgettable experience for students at TCU. We are not only in the business of creating great events and activities for students and the community to attend, but we are in the business of creating memories that will last a lifetime. We want our students to laugh, be entertained, be challenged, be comforted and make connections with other students across the campus. We offer lots of opportunities for involvement such as theCrew , Hall Crew, the Student Government Association, and we also provide funding and planning/marketing assistance for student organization events. To find out What2Do@TCU, we encourage you to visit our website, and check out our calendar of upcoming events including Homecoming, Frogs First, and Family Weekend.

Dream Outside the Box Spring Training and Info Session

Wednesday Jan 29 | 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Every Dream Outside the Box program is designed for dual impact: to propel youth in dream deserts toward higher education while cultivating leadership skills among collegiate volunteers. About Dream Outside the Box

Dream Outside the Box Spring Training and Info Session
Dream Outside the Box is a non-profit organization that works to propel at-risk youth onto a higher education trajectory by mobilizing college students to engage children in imaginative careers and extracurriculars. We work with children in existing youth development organizations to provide: (1) exposure to new activities & career options to broaden horizons beyond stereotypical career aspirations such as rap or football by inviting college student organizations to share their respective interests, such as chemistry & fencing (2) long-term development opportunities via weekly lessons, camps and apprenticeships through partnerships with private organizations (3) opportunities for our youth to embrace service starting at age 5.

About English Department

TCU English Presents: A Talk with Dr. Sarah Orem
Since 1873, the English Department has remained at the heart of academics at TCU. As one of the largest departments on campus, we are proud to work with students at every level in their education, from first-year writing and literature courses to doctoral studies in English or Rhetoric and Composition. Today, the English Department approaches both venerable and popular subjects – from Jane Austin, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Kenneth Burke or missionary writers, radical journalists, and comic books – with traditional and cutting edge tools. We work in both dusty and digital archives to advance knowledge about the centrality of culture in our lives. Our faculty have garnered significant scholarly recognitions in a broad range of intellectual areas, with special focus on British, American, and postcolonial literatures, rhetoric and composition, and creative writing. The department offers two majors in English and Writing, a minor in these areas, as well as Creative Writing, and the Ph.D. in English or Rhetoric and Composition.
